Festive Fun Facts
Entering this holiday season, James Weldon Johnson Park is excited to bring the holiday spirit to The Heart of Downtown! This Wednesday, December 4th, will be the City of Jacksonville’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony during December Artwalk. Here are 10 Fun Facts about the Christmas Tree and upcoming festivities!
1. The Christmas Tree will be up in JWJ Park until January 2nd
2. The Christmas Tree is 42 ft tall
3. The Star on the Christmas tree is 8 ft tall
4. The garlands around the tree will have more than 11, 500 LED lights in red, green, and blue, and will draw almost 20,000 watts
5. During ArtWalk and the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, we expect 3,000 people in Downtown
6. We will have more than 150 performers on stage throughout the Tree Lighting Ceremony
7. The Menorah will be present in the park for the month of December, but its first candle will be lit on Dec 25, on the first night of Hanukkah
8. The Menorah in the park is 5 feet tall
9. In Snyder Memorial Church, we will have 6 Christmas Trees, each decorated uniquely
10. There will be more than 1000 candy canes and 5000 twinkle lights inside Snyder Memorial Church!
