Relive The Beatles' First and Only Florida Concert 60 Years Later with an Evening of Music, History and Storytelling

Sept. 12 | 7 PM

Did you know the Fab Four's 1964 Gator Bowl concert in Jacksonville was the first integrated concert in the Southeast? Join our friends at @FLHumanities on September 12 at the historic @RitzJax to commemorate this historic music moment in Florida with live music from Beatles tribute band, Liverpool Live, and a conversation with "Good Day Sunshine State" author Bob Kealing and historian Dr. Kitty Oliver, one of the few Black attendees at the concert.

During the mid-60s, Beatlemania swept the nation as Americans faced great change during the Civil Rights Movement. The Beatles’ refusal to play for a segregated audience not only made history, but was the beginning of the group's role as allies in the fight for civil and social justice. Relive the timeless hits from the British band and enjoy incredible storytelling, as we dig deep into the social climate of Florida in the ‘60s and explore the historic impact of the 1964 concert.

Tickets are $20 plus tax and processing fees when purchased in advance or $25 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. for book sales, book signings and museum tours. Photo ops with the band will be available. Groovy attire encouraged!
