Schedule an Event

With three stages, a shaded kid’s zone and multiple event areas, the park is perfect for everything from small community gatherings and private events and weddings, to large-scale concerts and festivals designed to accommodate thousands.

An event that features any of the following aspects requires a permit:

  • Amplified sound
  • Selling tickets
  • Events open to the public
  • Selling food, alcohol, or merchandise
  • A gathering of 20 or more people
  • Requiring a special setup or stages, tents, tables, barricades, or other items

Event permits are granted on a first-come, first-served basis. For large-scale events with more than 500 attendees, it is suggested that proposals are submitted three to six months prior to your preferred event date(s). Proposals for smaller events may be considered with one to two months of lead time. Complete proposals will be reviewed as soon as possible. Estimated fees cannot be given until a complete proposal has been submitted and reviewed by Friends of Hemming Park.

To book an event at Hemming Park, please follow these steps:

  1. Review the James Weldon Park Event Guide for rules, regulations, prices, and more.
  2. Complete a James Weldon Johnson Park Event Application
