Pre-Summer Sauce!: Afro-Dance Class in the Park

Join members of Nan Nkama and sister company Kreative Kids and Beyond, Inc., in collaboration with James Weldon Johnson Park for another family-friendly event to learn Afro-Diaspora dance styles and celebrate the coming of Summer.

The event will open with libations for those lost in 2020 and any ancestors you want to recognize.

The first dance class will focus on West African (Mandingue) dance and feature live drumming from professional African percussionists. (All dance levels welcomed)

Next, learn about fun dance and music style related to the Congo, Ndombolo known for its hip gyrations and upbeat music.

After a brief break, we will close out with a fun Afrobeat(s) cypher to allow everyone to freely express themselves and test out what they learned.
